Kingii is the new flotation wristband for all those who love water! If you need help to stay afloat, pull the lever and an inflation bag will pull you to the surface. It’s possible to drown in even shallow and calm waters, but some people choose not to wear a life jacket, particularly if it’s hot and they’re on holiday.
But now there’s a non-invasive wristband that deploys a buoyant balloon when needed to save wearers from drowning.
The flotation wristband is said to be suitable for activities including swimming, surfing, kayaking, sailing and fishing, allowing for more freedom of movement than a life jacket, which can be up to 78 times larger.
It can be inflated in less than one second by pulling a metal lever and triggering the CO2 cylinder to fill the balloon, which can pull a wearer towards the water’s surface.
The company’s founder, Tom Agapiades came up with the idea after his friend drowned.
‘After I lost a friend in a preventable drowning accident, I developed Kingii as a way to promote the importance of water safety and, hopefully, end this type of tragedy once and for all,’ he said.
HOW DOES KINGII FLOTATION WRISTBAND WORK?
The flotation wristband contains an inflatable nylon balloon that’s stored inside a small pouch next to a carbon dioxide cartridge.
It inflates in less than one second when a wearer pulls a metal lever, triggering the cylinder to fill the balloon, which can pull a wearer towards the water’s surface.
The device can be used again. The CO2 cartridge must be discarded and the balloon deflated.
It can then be folded back into its pouch and a new cartridge screwed into place so it’s ready for action.
